Why do incoming sms messages show up in my public inbox?
If you’re receiving SMS in the public logs, and the BlackBook logs please complete the Setup Guide

Call logs, and the Fake name are not working.
If you’re running OS 4.5+ refer to the BlackBook Setup Guide.

If you’re running OS 5.x, please note that there is a bug in the BlackBerry Operating System that is causing this. RIM is currently working to fix this issue, but we don’t know exactly when they’ll release an update.

How do I setup BlackBook to work with International Numbers?

If you live outside Canada, and the USA please note that while BlackBook can support international number formats, it’s made in Canada, and originally designed to run in Canada and the USA.

To setup your phone to work with international numbers, you must use the proper number format. The number format must be identical to the format your phone is receiving it in.

For example, in the U.K:
The proper format is: +44 5555 555 555.
The wrong format is: +44 05555 555 555.

Number formats can vary slightly in other countries, but if you follow the above info, you should be able to get BlackBook working properly.

I can’t open, or find BlackBook on my phone!
If this is your first time running BlackBook after the installation, go to the phones home screen and press the red END CALL button five (5) times in a row.

If it’s still not working, make sure you have setup your phone properly by following the steps in the Setup Guide.

I forgot my password, how can I reset it?
Since BlackBook is designed to be a hidden and secure address book, there are no backdoors to get you into the program. On some phones the timing when entering in your password can be very sensitive. Try typing in your key-combination at a medium pace. You can also do a battery-pull, and try the steps in the above solution for “I changed my password, and now BlackBook won’t open”.

If you’re having no success you may have to reinstall BlackBook (Note: Uninstalling without exporting contacts from BlackBook to the public contact list will result in the loss of your hidden contacts).

Incoming emails are not being filtered into BlackBook.
If you are using an email that is associated with your BlackBerry’s provider (eg. user@bell.blackberry.net), the phone will take priority over BlackBook. You need to have a 3rd party email address, we recommend Gmail, to make use of the email filtering, but any other email address will do.

Incoming emails say NO DATA in the body.
Book does not currently support all types of html email, and will only display basic html messages sent to your phone. You may want to notify the sender to use the Plain Text option when sending.

PIN messages aren’t being filtered into BlackBook.
Make sure the PIN number isn’t associated with a BBM contact. PIN messages will NOT be filtered if your contact is in your BlackBerry Messenger application. To hide PINs, you will have to remove them from your messenger contact list.

Why am I receiving duplicate emails from myself?
This is a known to be caused mostly when using Gmail. Please visit the following link for information on setting up email filters to stop this from happening.

Custom notification popup doesn’t appear for phone calls, and messages.
The custom popup does not appear for phone calls, only sms, email and PIN messages. On rare occasions the BlackBerry OS, or another application could interfere with this custom popup message. Check your phone for previously installed applications that deal with sms, email, or pin message handling.

How do I backup and/or sync my BlackBook contacts?
Blackbook does not currently backup or sync with the desktop manager or Outlook.  In fact blackbook does not communicate with any other application other than the address book.  Implementing this functionality introduces a security risk in that any person with control of the phone can hook it up to a PC and obtain all the blackbook contacts and information.  We are looking into some different alternatives so people may backup and sync BlackBook.
